This page summarizes the approach behind Erik Morris' 2026 write-in campaign for Florida Governor and links to key priorities and resources across the site.
I have over 20 years of experience as a project manager, designer, creative and technical leader in themed and traditional entertainment. In 2021 I earned my PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. I have been part of multi-billion dollar projects across the globe with most of my work happening in the great state of Florida, where I was born and grew up. I am a native Floridian, born at Winter Park Memorial Hospital, and lived in Seminole County where I was part of the first ever class of 6th graders at Indian Trails Middle School. I graduated from Lyman High School, when the greyhound track across the street for which the school mascot was named, was still there. I moved to Tampa to go to school at the University of South Florida where I graduated with honors with a degree in Theatre Arts focusing on lighting and sound design. My professional career brought me throughout the country and then the world, but I keep coming back to Florida. Whether it was back in Orlando when I joined with Electronic Arts, or now when I call Tampa home again, but now with my wife and daughter, Florida always finds a way to bring me back home.
Leading with visibility and transparency
Transparency is a buzzword; without action tied to it, it means nothing. Too many politicians say they want to be transparent and then hide behind their party politics and media teams, never letting their constituents know what is actually going on. If elected to Governor, I will lead by example. I will end Florida's hateful, discriminatory, anti-American and anti-First Amendment policies making sure that all Floridians have the opportunity to succeed on Day 1. The right to protected speech, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness will no longer be infringed in Florida. You should have the absolute right to say what you believe and act in an according way under Florida laws and regulations. Your rights should never be infringed upon by others doing the same.
I will ensure that experts in their fields, regardless of their political affiliation are considered for leadership and guidance in the state. I know that one person cannot solve everything on their own. They need people who are not afraid to question and provide alternatives to those in charge. Anyone who believes that only they can fix the problem is a liar or a fool, or both. I know that just because something doesn't impact me negatively doesn't mean it doesn't harm someone else. I want as many different opinions to have their voice to find solutions that help the most Floridians.
Falling back on my experience as a Project Manager, I pledge to speak to each and every member of the State Senate and House. I will ask each member to give me their top priorities and ask what they are working on towards those goals. Barring any confidentiality requirements, these top concerns will be made visible. Not just for me, but for the voters. It is vital for Florida's voters to know what their representatives are working on and working towards. With this we can find common ground and build consensus across party divides.
I pledge to keep party politics out of my leadership. On my first day, I will leave the party and serve as an independent Florida incumbent. Party politics and the money behind them are keeping Florida and the country at a divide. It doesn't work in the current political climate and it simply allows the rich to get richer, the bad actors to remain hidden and protected and the fraudulent to take advantage of regular people. These elites don't care about party politics, they just care about lining their own pockets with our money and consolidating their power over the people. When they win, we lose; Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green, Independent or Unaffiliated - we all lose when those in power and influence consolidate and empower their own agenda. It is well past time that Floridians come together to fight for Florida's future.
Focused on practical solutions, accountability, and people-first priorities
Please visit my Platform to learn more about policies that would benefit rural and urban Florida voters, build a strong foundation focused on lowering housing and day-to-day costs for Floridians, strengthening Florida's growth not just in the nation, but in the world, make sure Florida remains a top-tier destination for global and national investment and truly becomes a leader in law and order that respects the Florida and US Constitutions and keeps bad actors from benefiting by doing the wrong thing.
We will extend Homestead Exemptions beyond your first Florida home and Florida residents' first investment property. Offsetting that income, we will add a surcharge to the mega-investors of today preventing the stealing up of homes, driving up housing costs and rents for everyday Floridians. I want to make it easier for Floridians to not just lay down roots, but to build strong, generational wealth by investing back into our own homes. We'll make sure that Floridians won't lose their home or well-being when disaster does strike, by ending insurance exclusions on flood and hurricane damage or preexisting conditions. And we will make sure that major companies that operate in Florida, regardless of where they are headquartered, provide fair pricing and pay to everyone in Florida, without killing jobs.
We will protect Florida from bad actors, fraudsters and violence and build policies that build integrity and edify 2nd Amendment rights and responsibilities making sure that those that do suffer harm from gun violence have systems of support in place and building a strong infrastructure, based on mental health resources, to curtail mass casualty events while still protecting 2nd Amendment rights. We will also ensure that Florida protects those people who protected us, by guaranteeing active servicepeople and Veterans insurance and housing rights. We will not see honorable Veterans on the street in Florida. They put their lives on the line for us, we as a state and country, should never turn our backs to them.
