The Florida Insurance Fairness Act (FIFA) creates a “certification to operate” model for insurance companies operating in Florida to comply with:
- Advertising standard full-coverage plans for every line they service (home, auto, health, dental, etc.).
- No exclusions for previous health conditions, floods, hurricanes, etc.
- Removing hidden gaps in coverage and unintentional underinsurance for Florida families.
- Premium increases limited to inflation-based metrics (CPI-U).
- Price transparency.
- Enforcing through the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) with the ability to fine, suspend & remove non-compliant insurance companies.
- Insurers unwilling to operate fairly may leave the market.
Over the first 5 years, FIFA is estimated to save Florida consumers over $90 billion.
